Got off the Ferry at Cork at 08:00 & arrived at Brandon Bay ~11:00. It was pumping!!! Drove straight round to Dumps (cross-on), rugged up & was out there.

Had a fantastic sail for about 1 1/2 hrs - though there were some serious lulls. Wind picked up slightly & I was getting a little overpowered. Was thinking of changing down when a huge gust wiped me out big time. Smashed my chest into the boom & thought I'd broken ribs & punctured a lung. Couldn't breathe.

Managed to cling to board trying not to pass out & eventually drifted back in.

Spent the rest of the day in Tralee Hospital, where X-rays showed nothing broken. Just extreme bruising & several torn muscles in side & back.

Spent the rest of the week on Vallium, Voltarol, Tramadol & beer. Bugger! By the end of the week, was just about able to sit down & stand up unaided. Liver will take longer to recover ;-)

PS: Later inspection by my physio confirmed 3 broken ribs - detected by the absence of rigidity and the grinding/crunching sound heard when moving them :ouch:
